The story behind Kosha.

Updated: Oct 9, 2023

Hello! My name is Divya and I am a registered dietitian and certified Lifestyle Medicine professional. I am so glad that you landed on my page, thank you for taking the time to read this blog!

I am a working mom living in the city of Atlanta with my husband and elementary-school-age kiddos. I believe my kids are chosen for me to cherish them and feel extremely grateful for them. I have felt an extra sense of responsibility towards accomplishing my goals as I have them as my witness, and providing an example for them to start something new even with a bit of fear and lots of hope is completely okay and actually courageous.

I love to travel and being creative with ingredients inspired by the world’s cuisines to make healthy vegetarian recipes at home. With support and inspiration from my family, friends, and mentors, I have created a blog to share what I know with as many people as I can - including you!

I am truly grateful for my crew - my support system, mentor, my family and close friends - for giving me the courage and believing in myself to start this blog. I have a South Asian Working Moms group to be thankful for and feel very inspired by these amazing women in our community.

Last, but not the least, I wanted to thank Dhwani Patel, Avaza Design's owner, who is helping me with this website and creating my company - basically, helping me reach my professional goals and I am so very thankful for her patience with me.

Throughout these posts, I will be sharing a little bit of my world with you, offering small health changes one day at a time to help you grow towards a healthier lifestyle. I will start with three simple ways to help you and your families start your morning in a positive and healthy way:

  • Rest: Aim to have at least 7 hours of sleep a night. If possible, waking up earlier than anyone in the house will allow you to enjoy the peace and quiet before the day begins. I recommend starting your morning with one large cup of warm water with lemon and ginger followed by 30 minutes of whatever brings you joy. It could be exercises, reading, meditating, or writing a gratitude journal or a blog.

  • Nourish: Wash and prepare 2-3 cups of fruits that your family enjoys, especially those in season. Place the fruits and a variety of nuts (no more than 1 oz) in the middle of wherever you gather in the morning to have breakfast.

  • Connect: Have breakfast (including your coffee or tea) with your family as if you’re having a family dinner. Give yourself options out of two healthy choices of breakfast- either oats and whole grain cereal with soy/oat milk, adding nuts, chia seeds, and any fruits.

I will post some quick and healthy breakfast recipes, as well as many others, as I create and enjoy them with my family!
